Make-Up Class: Walk Around 'da Hood'

Okay guys, here's the story. It was Friday, and I had just gotten out of math class (perhaps the hardest class ever) still trying to stuff what was left of the day's lesson into my brain. Glad that the day was finally over and the weekend had arrived I had a sat down on our bench up by Alexander, let loose and just chilled with the boys. An hour or so went bye, and noticed people were starting to get out of their classes when it suddenly hit me. Oh god, I missed composition. Honestly, I've never missed class before and I had no idea what to do. I frantically asked my friends what the procedure was for missing class, should I see the deans? Take it to Mr. Watson? GAH! I decided Mr. W would be a good person to start with, y'know teachers are people, he'll understand... Atleast I hope he would.

Well I guess thats what brought me to write this post. See, the world didn't end with my accidental absence from class. Rather, a unique, interesting and until now unheard of idea was born. Mr. W suggested to me that to make up class, I take a 25-30 minute walk around my neighborhood and blog what I discover! So, I guess here it goes:

I got home from school today (Monday) and grabbed my dog to give him the exercise he needs along with completing my make-up class. I went down the grassy hill, maybe about five feet tall, and first realized how many more people were actually out and about. I normally take my dog walking real late at night, say around... 11'o clock, and see nobody. It's just cold and lonely on the streets that late. So to see all the 'action' was a new discovery to me. Well, I actually don't always like running into people on the road while walking my dog, Koge. See, he's a pomeranian, Japanese spitz mix and tends to get a lot of attention. When I get into these little 'confrontations' with passing pedestrians or other dog walkers, they always comment on how cute he is. Seriously, what am I supposed to say to that? "Oh, thanks! He thinks you're cute too!" Hah I dont know, I always get an awkward feeling whenever something like that comes around. Anyways, as I continued on my walk, I noticed what a safe-looking neighborhood I live in. Honestly, no offence, but if I lived in Kalhihi or Waianaie, I don't know if I would have been so comfortable with the whole neighborhood walk idea. But, what brought me to this conclusion was the landscaping that the association had done and all the matching buildings and such (I live in a townhouse). I guess it kind of my thinking told me that if flowers and bushes can grow on the side of the road, then people here must be cool. If that makes sense at all. Well, I actually did hear a study was done that a group of people planted a tree on every block of a city and crime rates in those areas were reduced by a certain percentage. Who thinks of these studies anyways? So, yeah hm.. what else did I notice... Well I passed by the movie theatres in the shoping center at the bottom of my hill and thought about how good of a date palce it would make. Not too many people come out to Ko'olau Theatres and there are some prime date spots up in my neighborhood. I guess I just need to figure out how that will work out. Well I think its about time I wind this here blog down. Its been fun... talking to myself. Hah but okay, blog you guys later.
